The FC 1030 TRIPLE range comes in six versions, with finger or roller conditioners, for tractors from 150 hp. In combination with an FC 3125 F or FC 3525 F front mower, they make high-performance, high-productivity tools. * (FC 3125 F is not compatible with FC 10030+).

Maximum work output, optimal forage quality

The key to clean forage: LIFT-CONTROL hydro-pneumatic suspension

Lowering the level of impurities from 4 to 2 % per year, means gaining 89€/ha/year*. With the LIFT-CONTROL hydro-pneumatic suspension system, controlling impurities is no longer a problem. It is far more than just a suspension system as it uses an accumulator rather than the traditional spring.
KUHN's triple gang mowers have exclusive kinematics including a mowing-unit suspension cylinder, a safety-release cylinder, an accumulator with adjustable pressure and a pivot point strategically positioned close to the machine's centre of gravity.
The suspension system limits dirt getting into the forage and reduces ground pressure from the cutter bar. As a result, fuel consumption and skid wear are lower and the sward is preserved.
*Researchers at the Chamber of Agriculture of Weser Ems (Germany) carried out a study in a forage producing region in Germany. They compared 2 batches of silage, one with a 2% impurity content and the other with 4 %, in order to determine the financial impact on dairy farms. After measuring the nutritional value of the poorer-quality silage, they calculated the amount of concentrates that needed to be added in order to reach the same level of milk production.

OPTIDISC ELITE: the unrivalled cutter bar

The new OPTIDISC ELITE cutter bar has been developped with farmers/users. The different disc spacing, large overlap areas and low mowing angle provide the required quality of cut. Fitted with this cutter bar including its latest upgradings, the triple FC 1030 ensures a clean and regular cut in all situations.
  •  Where the discs diverge, the spacing is reduced for a larger knife overlap area. Clean and regular cut even in short or light forage (A).
  •  Where the discs converge, the spacing is larger to facilitate the flow of forage which is quickly ejected rearwards: the mowing work is not affected (B).
  • Overlap area nearly doubled for improved quality of cut on wet or sticky soils (or in the presence of molehills) or in heavy or lying forage, plant covers harvested in late autumn.
  • A smaller pitch angle: when mowing at a relatively flat angle, it prevents creating typical undulating mowing profiles. This development also promotes a smoother and faster regrowth and easier adjustment of the following machines.
  • New disc bearings with exclusive shape and fastening always ensure that knives are secured in case of shocks while giving them 360-degree freedom of rotation.
In hilly terrain, in wet conditions or sticky grass, soil can build up in front of the cutter bar, except with OPTIDISC ELITE! Its specific skids improve sliding and preserve the sward. Another benefit for forage quality, especially in difficult conditions.

Ground following with the travel range of the rear units

The rear units of the FC triple gang mowers follow nearly all ground contours, due to the following characteristics:
  • units with pendulum type articulation,
  • hydraulic side offset of 20 cm,
  • vertical offset of nearly 50 cm,
  • angular range of approximately 20° with an overlap of 50 cm.

Adjustable swath widths

The mowing unit swath width can be reduced to a minimum of 1.00 to 1.20 m. This is so the tractor wheels do not run over the already formed swath. The forage remains intact without introducing any impurities.

Now, you can choose between two control systems:
  • KFA 12: a cost-effective, sleek and user-friendly control box, designed specially for the machine.
  • ISOBUS MOWER CONTROL: an alternative with more features and greater user comfort. The ISOBUS MOWER CONTROL system enables you to control your machine with an ISOBUS terminal (already on the tractor, or a KUHN CCI 60, CCI 800 or CCI 1200 terminal) or an AUX-N-certified joystick. Thanks to this dual option, KUHN offers a flexible and scalable solution to meet user needs, whilst enhancing the driving experience and performance of its machinery

Combined LIFT CONTROL and NON-STOP safety

Who can afford to damage their mower on an obstacle or due to a driving error in the middle of the season?
If a mowing unit hits an obstacle, it pivots backwards around an axis. At the same time, oil is sent to the LIFT-CONTROL cylinder for the suspension system. The pressure increase facilitates mower lift in order to clear the obstacle. The mowing unit automatically returns to its initial position without stopping.
  • The safety system works well even if the inner discs hit an obstacle, thanks to the arm's pivot point being far enough away from the first discs.
  • Each mowing unit has an independent suspension system which prevents either one from moving forward while the other is clearing an obstacle.
  • The hydraulic safety-release system can be adjusted to suit mowing conditions. Two positions are available for the cylinder: the second position increases the release threshold of the safety system which is useful when working at high speeds or in particularly difficult conditions.

Maximum reliability and stability

The cutter bar has been designed to cope well with obstacles. Being equipped with the PROTECTADRIVE safety system, in the event of a violent impact between a disc and an obstacle, the shaft holding the disc can shear just above the bearing thanks to a carefully dimensioned shear groove. Therefore the gear wheels are protected. In less than 15 minutes, the machine can back up and running with a low repair cost.
KUHN advantage: Disc-bearing stations are attached by long bolts that pass through the entire cutter bar. This eliminates any risk of the mounts being torn out of the cutter bar in the event of an impact. Top-of-the-range components strengthen the centre piece of the cutter bar:
  • Special disc-bearing station with a double row of angular contact ball bearings.
  • Large-diameter gearwheels in high-precision forged steel with 3 cogs engaged.
  • Forged and heat-treated discs.
  • Disc skids made from treated steel with the option of adding a bolt on protective layer.
In order to lengthen the machine's service life, shock absorbers are integrated in between the cutter bar and chassis. The structure of the machine is less affected by impacts, especially when working at fast forward speeds.

Minimum maintenance

You will waste no time on maintenance.
The OPTIDISC ELITE cutter bar is an excellent example of added value created through the close collaboration between manufacturer and farmer. It is a solution that is totally adapted to operations and will save you time:
  •  Lubricated for life. No need to service the cutter bar.
  • FAST-FIT quick-release knife system, 100 % secure. A powerful leaf spring provides constant pressure on the knife retainer for extra safety. It takes just a few moments to replace the knives.
Maintenance is kept down, and is occassionally necessary for the drive system and the pivot points.

FLEXPROTECT guard: save on repair costs

To avoid damage during mowing, around the edge of the fields or along trees, the outer FLEXPROTECT guard bends and then returns to its initial shape. This design avoids additional repair costs. Unfolding of the guards is controlled hydraulically.

Conditioning to suit your needs

In difficult conditions: pivoting steel fingers

The 540 mm rotor with pivoting steel fingers has exceptional conditioning capacities:
  • Uniform forage drying is guaranteed over large widths, even in difficult conditions.
  • The power requirement is limited for heavy or long forage.
  • The pivoting fingers prevent damage from foreign bodies.
  • You can choose to deliver your forage in swath- or wide-spreading mode.
The two-speed central gear stick allows you to adapt conditioning to the type of forage. The lower speed is ideal for delicate forage as well as for reducing fuel consumption, when mowing later in the season in less dense crops (755 rpm). The speed can be increased in dense forage (1000 rpm).
Kuhn's exclusive drive shaft for the conditioning rotor is protected by a shear bolt. The machine and transmission are protected, even if hit by a foreign body.

For delicate crops: SQUAREFLEX rubber rollers

Integrating legumes in a ration reduces the quantity of concentrates to purchase.
A test carried out by Arvalis (the French agronomical institute) with the Chamber of Agriculture and the machinery cooperative FD in 2016 highlighted the drying patterns of different mower conditioners (finger or roller, in nylon or steel). The mower conditioner with a polyurethane roller came out top:
  • Saving of approximately 100 Euros / ha/cut with the rollers
  • Drying close to 80 % of DM from the second night comparing to the other methods which obtained this result after the third night.
Is this ennough to justify the purchase of a roller conditioner?
Thanks to the specific tread of the polyurethane rollers, the plants are crimped through a regular movement. Their large diameter provide significant capacity to evacuate the forage rearwards and prevent its wrapping around them.
The pressure adjustment between the rollers is made via an easy-to-access adjustment screw. In addition, the gap between the rollers can be widened to let foreign bodies pass through.
On a mechanical level, the rear roller is driven by 2 gearboxes and a maintenance-free drive. The upper roller is driven by a special gear train. Benefit from a life-long perfect synchronisation and reduced maintenance!
