Output quality, comfort and easy handling for 100 % effective stubble cultivation

The DISCOLANDER is a disc harrow capable of working in dry, compacted ground and burying large quantities of residues at depths of between 5 and 18 cm. It is the must-have stubble cultivator for mixed-crop farms, contractors and farming co-operatives.

Find a distributor near you

You need to work in different conditions: destroying grassland with a dense root network, stubble cultivations in the summer in dry conditions, burying large quantities of residues such as maize stalks, in wet autumn soils, seeding cover crops in one pass. You want to work faster than with a classic machine. You have different soil types, and stony conditions. You have small fields with narrow exits and you don't want to waste time manoeuvring.

With DISCOLANDER cover-crop stubble cultivators, designed and built by KUHN, you can carry out medium or deep stubble cultivation at depths of between 5 and 18 cm.

3 great features of the DISCOLANDER range:
1. output quality: the spring-loaded blade holder guarantees uniform output in stony ground, faster working speeds and better crumbling;
2. operating comfort: the machine is quick and easy to adjust and most of the settings are hydraulic with visual adjustment indicators;
3. easy handling: sharp U-turns at the end of the fields to reduce headland size thanks to the crossbar linkage system and axle in front of the roller.

KUHN's DISCOLANDER range is designed for tractors from 120 to 360 hp to work at speeds of between 8 and 10 km/h.

The agronomical advantages of stubble cultivation

Investing in a DISCOLANDER cover-crop disc harrow is giving yourself the best chance of managing this essential tillage operation successfully:
  • Stubble cultivations and mechanical weeding: straw decomposition is accelerated when there is contact between the soil, air and humidity. Good weed emergence is ensured when the seed is positioned near the surface, and humidity is retained in the soil (surface mulch prevents evaporation).
  • Soil preparation before seeding: a working depth of up to 15 cm makes it possible to carry out deep cultivation for min-till methods.
  • Mechanical destruction of plant cover: high under-frame clearance and 600 mm discs, as standard, make the DISCOLANDER exceptionally good at working in and destroying large volumes of plant residues.
  • Manure burial: excellent mixing for uniform burial of manure and slurry.
  • Turning grasslands with dense root systems: the machine can be adapted to the most extreme conditions by adjusting the disc gangs.
  • Cutting and burying maize grain.

Different rollers for different conditions

KUHN has a range of different rollers to equip DISCOLANDER stubble cultivators. Light or heavy, KUHN has a roller to suit all soil types:
  • T-Liner roller: 600 mm diameter and 140 kg/m. It is a great consolidating roller, even in stony conditions. With its T-shape, it crumbles clayey soil and/or clods perfectly. It enables a roughness to be retained on compact silt. When the T-shape works straw, it helps accelerate its decomposition. The T-Liner roller also regulates depth for seeding cover crops.
  • HD-Liner roller : 600 mm diameter and 180 kg/m. The HD-Liner is a great consolidation roller. It works well in wet and stony conditions. Its V -shape reduces run-off and improves water infiltration between rows. This notched profile helps to keep the roller turning even in sticky conditions.

Save time and money by optimising passes and preserve your soil at the same time. KUHN's SH 201, 402 and 600 small-seed deed drills fit onto to the DISCOLANDER perfectly. The seed distributors are positioned in front of the roller to ensure that the seeds are placed evenly across the whole working width. Seed-to-soil contact is also better, so germination is boosted. Steps and a platform give safe access to the hopper.
The metering unit is adjusted and turned on from the tractor cab. There are different metering units available to ensure that metering is accurate with any seed type.

An exclusive, heavy-duty design

The DISCOLANDER's 4 disc gangs produce uniform, well-levelled fields

Uniform output all the way across

DISCOLANDER cover-crop disc harrows are equipped with 4 disc gangs offset to the front and rear to give a uniform and well-levelled result across the whole working width. The 2 front and rear disc gangs overlap to ensure uniform output across the whole width, no matter what angle the disc gangs are set at. With high under-frame clearance, it is easier to work in large volumes of residues. The machine is very hard-wearing with a long service life thanks to the standard 660 mm-diameter discs which are 8 mm thick at the front, 6 mm thick at the rear. With alternating notched and smooth discs, the DISCOLANDER has better penetration capacity and can cut straw effectively.

Reliable in any conditions

The cutting and soil-expansion action of the tool is amplified by the KUHN-exclusive spring-loaded blade holders. This feature of the DISCOLANDER creates uniform output across the whole working width, unlike the fixed blade holder, while protecting the disc bearing.
The drop-forged flange makes light work of penetrating heavy or stony soil: no risk of lateral displacement or rotation. The drop-forged flange holds the disc-gang perfectly.
Reliability and maintenance should never be overlooked. That's why DISCOLANDER cover-crop stubble cultivators are equipped with disc bearings with quadruple seal.
The machine's single-beam concept makes it even stronger. The 2 side beams are curved tubes and the moving components (tie-rods/cylinders) are inside the frame, so better protected. 4 cylinders fold the disc gangs up vertically, to increase machine rigidity.
KUHN's drop-forged flange gives the DISCOLANDER disc harrow great penetration capacity

Extremely easy to handle

U-turns on headlands can be tedious with a trailed machine. To solve this problem, DISCOLANDER stubble cultivators feature a crossbar linkage system attached to the tractor hitch that gives a turning angle of 110°! This linkage system reduces traction requirements and transfers load to the tractor. The clever design of the DISCOLANDER range with vertical folding and the axle positioned in front of the roller, makes the machine shorter and therefore, easier to manoeuvre. In order to save time and increase operating comfort, the DISCOLANDER has a turning angle of 110° to carry out tight U-turns on headlands.
With a turning angle of 110°, the DISCOLANDER trailed stubble cultivator is extremely easy to handle

Operating comfort and simplicity

The pitch-angle- setting indicator of the disc gangs is visible from the tractor cab

No more wasted time with adjustments

By adjusting your machine quickly and easily you save precious time in your working day. The settings of DISCOLANDER stubble cultivators allow you to adapt to the field conditions simply and quickly. Disc-gang pitch angle can be adjusted hydraulically (as an option), from 10° to 24°, from the tractor cab. The front and rear discs can be adjusted separately to give the best residue-cutting quality.
Working depth is adjusted with the roller and the tractor hitch system. It is also adjusted from the tractor cab with an indicator visible from the cab. The cultivator's wheels are for transport and headland turns. The drawbar cylinder lifts the DISCOLANDER at the end of the field and returns it to work position progressively. The drawbar is articulated with a hydraulic-stop cylinder.

More ergonomic and comfortable on the road

Road constraints can sometimes be tough with large-width trailed machines. In order to solve this problem, DISCOLANDERs fold vertically to reduce machine width on the road. Once folded, DISCOLANDER stubble cultivators boast a narrow width of 2.55 m. The extensions are locked mechanically to ensure safe road travel. To increase user comfort, hydraulic suspension is fitted as standard. DISCOLANDER stubble cultivators are DREAL approved for 25 km/h. Road travel is made simple to save you time and improve your working conditions.
The vertical folding system of the DISCOLANDER makes it more compact for transport
