Your benefits

The plough that meets all your requirements

MASTER 153 ploughs are world-renowned references

KUHN's ploughing philosophy

KUHN MASTER 153 mounted ploughs have a common objective: to help you reap the benefits of your investment quickly.
The MASTER 153 with its 150 x 150 mm beam is designed for more intensive use and more difficult working conditions than the MASTER 123. With the MASTER 153, you will be able to use tractors up to 270 hp. This range is available from 4 to 6 bodies, in MULTI-MASTER and VARI-MASTER versions, with T traction bolt safety or Non-Stop Hydraulic safety.
Thousands of users have already chosen the MASTER 153 mounted reversible plough for its reliability, ease of use and quality of work. KUHN has been designing and manufacturing ploughs for over a century. This know-how and expertise will increase the profitability of your investment by a higher resale value than that of competing ploughs.

2 choices of inter-body clearance

It is essential to choose your plough according to the conditions of use and in particular according to the cultivation system being followed. In order to best adapt to your working conditions, it is possible to optimise the clearance between points. To do this, you should take into account :
  • whether or not the volume of residue is large
  • whether straw is removed from the field or not
  • if the plant cover is previously crushed or destroyed.
2 clearances are available on MASTER 153 mounted ploughs:
  • in 4 and 5 furrows 102 cm: this clearance is recommended for destroying live plant cover or for burying a bed of previously shredded residue. In this configuration, the soil flow circulates easily between 2 bodies while maintaining an optimal position of the skimmers. The quality of ploughing is maintained despite the high presence of residues.
  • in 5 and 6 furrows 96 cm: This is the best compromise to maximise the passage capacity in the presence of abundant residues while maintaining working comfort with a plough that is easy to manoeuvre.
Different inter-body clearances offer the possibility of adapting to working conditions

2 cutting width systems

KUHN offers 2 cutting width systems: multiple or variable.
  • The MULTI-MASTER 153 ploughs offer the possibility to work at different widths: 35, 40 and 45 cm (14', 16' or 18'). Changing widths is done by mechanical adjustment, simply by changing the bolts in the clevises to orientate the ages.
The multiple width is ideal for farmers who have constant working conditions with homogeneous soil, a uniform plot with small hills and consistent quantities of residue.
The VARI-MASTER 153 ploughs allow instant adaptation of the cutting width to the conditions. Changing the cutting width is made using the variable hydraulic adjustment from the operator's seat. The special feature of KUHN VARI-MASTER 153 mounted ploughs is the full integration of the variable width system into the beam for optimum protection of the mechanism. The cutting width can vary from 30 to 50 cm (12' to 20') depending on the body clearance of your plough.
The VARI-MASTER 153 ploughs are ideally suited to farmers and contractors with variable ploughing conditions: available tractive power, uneven ground, lack of adherence, desired ploughing profile, amount of residue to be buried, shape of the field, heterogeneous soil etc.
The variable width indicator allows the working width to be viewed from the cab.

2 high-performance safety devices

MASTER 153 ploughs can be equipped with 2 types of safety: T traction bolt safety or NSH hydraulic non stop safety.
  • The Traction bolt safety device ensures a clear breakage by traction following a force at the point of the share of 4 000 kg and thus avoids frequent stressing of the safety device. The ploughing depth remains the same after many trips: no wear on the system. The T safety is an economical solution for a lighter plough than NSH. It is recommended for heavy soil without stones.
  • The Non-Stop Hydraulic safety system can be adapted to all working conditions. The pressure on the plough body varies according to the depth, speed and width of the work, the condition and nature of the soil.... It is therefore necessary to be able to vary the release pressure without mechanical intervention (adding blades, spring tension...) to prevent stones from rising up or the plough from being moved over during work. The general design of non-stop safety systems allows an increasing or decreasing release curve to be obtained when encountering the obstacle.
The adjustment of the release pressure takes only a few seconds by connecting a hydraulic hose. There are options to suit the most demanding situations:
  • VARIBAR option: allows the pressure at the point to be varied from the tractor while ploughing: immediate adaptation to working conditions.
  • MAXIBAR option: instantaneous high release pressure (600 to 2500 kg) of the safety devices for working on very heavy soil.
NSH safety offers the best performance on the market

Comfort and ease of use

Hydraulic offset is available as an option for infinitely variable adjustment from the operator's seat.

Combined offset / turnover

The middle part of the MASTER 153 ploughs contains the majority of adjustments. Simple to use, this specific kinematics allows you to choose the ideal working range for your tractor. There is no need to adjust the angle, the point of traction adapts automatically. Once in the field, all you have to do is refine the offset to achieve perfect working quality. Fast, simple and efficient, such is the offset on MASTER 153 ploughs.
Hydraulic offset is available as an option for continuous adjustment of the first plough body from the operator's seat.
A few practical tips for optimum use:
  1. Measure your tyre spacing.
  2. Selecting the right adjustment range.
  3. Adjusting the plough offset.
The traction line will automatically adapt itself.

Tool-free, simple and accessible adjustments

The adjustments of a plough are essential to achieve a very good quality of work. It is essential to fine-tune them as soon as there is a change in working conditions. KUHN offers you the opportunity to have a perfectly adjusted plough thanks to simple, intuitive and tool-free settings. The simplicity and precision of adjustment of the MASTER 153 ploughs allows you to optimise fuel consumption and the wear of working parts.
In just a few seconds, you will be able to benefit from fine and precise adjustments, giving you an irreproachable quality of work and increased productivity. Whether it is for vertical, offset or depth, you will gain in practical simplicity.
For greater comfort, all plough settings (offset, vertical, working depth, NSH pressure) can be controlled hydraulically from the cab. In heterogeneous conditions, the driver can adjust the various parameters of his plough on the move while continuing ploughing.
Adjustment of the plough control wheel is tool-free.

Mastery of know-how

The reinforcement triangle ensures the right balance between weight and strength of your plough.

A robust structure

The MASTER 153 range is recognised by thousands of users for its unfailing reliability. Its unique design guarantees an irreproachable quality of ploughing in order to obtain high yields while limiting operating costs.
From the front furrow to the last plough body, KUHN MASTER 153 ploughs are fully mechanically welded using strict, high-precision manufacturing processes to guarantee their longevity over the years. The most constrained areas adopt specific designs such as the forged and treated monobloc connecting rod.
The optimised reinforcement triangle allows the plough to maintain a very good weight distribution with a centre of gravity close to the tractor.
In addition, the MASTER 153 ploughs benefit from a clean design that limits the accumulation of soil residue on the frame and facilitates cleaning.
The use of high quality materials combined with a simple and efficient design is an undeniable guarantee of reliability for your plough.

The maintenance-free linkage integrated in the frame

The linkage 100% integrated into the beam of the MASTER 153 plough is a KUHN exclusive! The entire working width mechanism is integrated into the frame to guarantee total protection against external aggression (falling stones and earth, humidity, corrosion, etc.). This KUHN exclusivity offers a much longer service life than conventional mechanisms. It also requires no maintenance since the pins are chrome plated, locked in rotation and bushed to eliminate any risk of seizure and wear. The absence of maintenance saves considerable time and money and ensures the profitability of your KUHN plough.
Opting for a KUHN variable width plough, VARI-MASTER 153, is the assurance of a complete and instant adaptation to your working conditions.
The VARI-MASTER 153 ploughs have the variable width system integrated into the frame.
